Course Objectives

This module covers a wide range of theories, perspectives, and practices on the social-emotional development of children. Basic human emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, love and attachment, joy and happiness and how they evolve, will be covered. Special attention will be given to the practical implications of the related behavioural and emotional problems often found among young children.

Course Content

This module covers Context of childhood, Exploring emotions, The development of emotions in early childhood years, Personal identity: The development of SELF, SELF and emotional development, Gender concept, awareness and identity, Social development, Supporting children in stressful situations, Moral development : Development of moral thought and behavio and Supporting the emotional and social development of young children in group settings.
