Changing Job Requirements to Meet New Demands
The steady increase of AI-related jobs in Singapore is no surprise, considering how "AI" has been a buzzword and hot topic for discussion in recent years. A recent report from the OECD Directorate of Science, Technology and Innovation finds that: 1. Singapore has grown from having the lowest share of AI-related jobs in 2012 to the highest in 2018 (compared with Canada, US, and the UK), with a high concentration of jobs in the "Public Administration and Defence" sector. 2. Singapore’s share of AI-related software skills amongst all AI-skills was below 10% in 2012. It increased substantially to 30% in 2018. 3. Apart from technical skills, workers in AI-related roles are increasingly required to possess complementary Critical Core Skills such as creativity, teamwork, and communication, among others. Mariagrazia Squicciarini discusses the research approach and key findings at a SkillsFuture SG webinar here: https://lnkd.in/gxnRiHt We have also published a joint commentary with OECD on how Singapore performed in the AI field in the last decade.
